Lighthouse Chorus

We are the Men's Barbershop Chorus located in Niles, MI, a chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Michiana Metro, MI, Chapter of SPEBSQSA, Inc. is a Michigan-based, 501(c)3, non-profit, tax exempt corporation. Despite being only a few years old, we are made up of some very experienced barbershop singers, including past District competitors and medal winners.

Our director, Gene Hanover, brings to the chorus long experience as a singer and director. Gene is a professional voice teacher. He sang lead with Upstage Sound, who were the 1998 Pioneer District Quartet Champions. He directed the Valleyaires chorus in South Bend, IN, to several Cardinal District championships, and also directed the Mall City Chorus in Kalamazoo, MI, before becoming the founding Director of the Lighthouse Chorus. Gene has a great sense of humor, a love of music, a great work ethic and tremendous passion to his craft. Every single rehearsal combines hard work, fun and musical education into an exciting and focused evening.

Our members come from all walks of life. We have teachers, lawyers, doctors -- and even farmers. We have some members with more than 50 years of barbershopping, and others with less than a year. All our members share one thing -- a love of this art form -- of this hobby. We expect a lot from our members -- and we get it.

Our guys have devoted a lot of time and work to become Michiana's premier male chorus. We welcome anyone who wants to keep us there.

Why don't you come and be a part of our chorus?
