On the brink of War!
I am dissapointed in President George Bush.  He seemed to be doing so well.  Iraq was beginning to make a real effort to disarm, we were beginning to step back from the brink of war.
Today though it appears that we will be heading off to war in Iraq.  This is not the first war, unfortunately it will not be the last.  It is a first though.  It is the first time that the United States of America will be entering into a war with out real provacation.
Many feel that we are merely completing what President Bush's father started over 10 years ago.  They are wrong!  There is no need to kill soldiers and civilians because of one man.
I am not writing this as a treatise on whether or not this war is right or wrong.  I am writing this for all our young people who may be headed off to war shortly.
We must support them!
I well remember the Vietnam war.  I well remember what some many of my generation did to the soldiers who fought there.  No American soldier should ever be faulted by heeding the call of his or her country.  The American soldiers are not to blame for the acts of our leaders.
Whether or not you feel that this war is right or proper.  Whether or not you feel that President Bush is a warmonger, unstable, smart, or a good American.  No matter how you feel about this war, do not blame our troops.  They deserve our support.  They deserve our respect.  These young men and women have chosen to fight and, if necessary, give their lives for their country, for you and me.  They do not make policy.  They do not decide where or when they will fight.  They simply heed their countries call and fight wherever and whenever our leaders tell them.  For that they should be praised.
I am proud of all our veterans.  I especially want the Vietnam veterans know that I am proud, very proud of them!  I want our current soldiers to know that I am proud of them and very happy they are willing to protect me and mine.
If you do not feel that we should fight a war in Iraq.  Make your feelings clear at the polls.  Vote for a president, senator, or representative who will not make war.  Go to the polls and vote, vote for the candidate of your choice, but vote!
But what ever else you do support our soldiers regardless of where they fight.

Amen
