Worship and Variety
Suppose 20 people came to your birthday party and each one gave you the exact same present?
Suppose all your friends acted and reacted in the exact same manner to you?
Suppose your parents and/or your children acted the exact same way toward you?
If you got the same present from everyone you would be dissapointed, upset and a little frustrated. You would also immediately exchange 19 of the gifts for somehting else. You would find life rather boring if everyone alwares acted and reacted to you in the same way. You would only need one friend, for example, to experience the full richness of friendship, your parents would be interchangable. Life would be a bore.
Whether we realize it or not, we enjoy lifes variety and richness. We enjoy getting different presents from different friends. We enjoy the variety of interactions we experience with our different friends and we enjoy the difference between our mother and father.
Every human is different, every human adds to the rich tapestry we call life. The Lord in His infinite wisdom created a varied and wonderful world for us. A world the challenges each of our senses and provides much joy and sorrow, fun and boredom, love and hate, good things and bad. A world that keeps us on our toes.
Genesis 1:31
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.
Looking around at the wonderfull variety the Lord gave us, it makes me truely wonder...
Why, in the world some people insist on believing that God wants all of us to worship Him in the exact same way!
Genesis 1: 27
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
God created us in His image, a spiritual image. We love variety, spiritual as well as physical variety. Since we are created in His image, it stands to reason that God loves variety. If that is not enough proof, look the the infinite variety in the universe He created.
Worshiping God is a personal event. Many of us prefer to worship God in company with others. Their faith helps to lend a reality to God that helps our own faith. Each of us finds a group we are comfortable worshiping with. A group who gives of themselves in a manner similar to the way we give ourselves to Him.
There are quite literally over 6 billion ways to worship God, one for each human on earth. Each way is the one right way, for that person!
Amen
